The volume information coming at us continues to explode, now because of genAI, and the cognitive demand is beyond our capacity to manage it. When inputs outpace attention, attention fragments. Service Performance Index finds that the single best predictor of organizational performance is confidence in leadership — not a financial or operational metric, but a systemic one that reflects how effectively information moves through the organization. Confidence rises when leaders have real-time visibility into what’s happening, can translate that awareness into coherent strategy, and then communicate it downward in a way the organization can act on concertedly. Conversely, it falls when any part of that loop breaks: when signals stop reaching leadership, or when direction stops reaching the team.
